KHK Family Law & Divorce Attorneys, LLC was formed through the merger of established solo practices in late 2023 and early 2024, uniting nearly 70 years of combined legal experience under one firm. Attorney Gershon Kulek, after a long and distinguished career practicing family law in Illinois, sought to transition his successful practice to the next generation of attorneys who share his deep commitment to excellence, professionalism, and client advocacy.
Attorney Matthew Katz, a respected member of the North Side Chicago community, partnered with Attorney Kulek to ensure a seamless continuation of these values.
Mr. Katz brings a distinctive and well-rounded perspective to family law, holding both a Master’s in Social Work and an MBA from the University of Chicago. This advanced training uniquely positions him to navigate not only the legal complexities of family law matters, but also the emotional, interpersonal, and financial considerations that clients face during some of life’s most difficult transitions. Attorney Katz previously ran his own law firm for some fifteen years at which he supervised a dozen attorneys and forty support staff, with three offices in Chicago, two in the suburbs and one in Mexico City. He also teaches courses in psychotherapy at the University of Chicago.
