Change in Income – If you or your former spouse have a significant change in income and you want to increase or decrease a child support order or spousal maintenance amount you have the right to do so. A significant change in income is trigger that will permit a judge to modify the former order’s payment amount.
Undisclosed Facts – If you discover that your former spouse had income or assets not disclosed to you during the divorce process in Chicago you can petition the court to reopen the distribution of those assets and in some cases punish your ex for not disclosing those assets.
Children – If there is a significant change in circumstances relating to the best interests of a minor child, e.g., one of the parents no longer has as much time to spend with the child because of a new job or other responsibility, or the child is suffering some type of endangerment due to any change which has occurred, you have the right to return to court to seek a modification of the allocation of parenting time.
